Flags may still be illegal on number plates
In 2001 following an outcry by Scottish and Welsh citizens the government stated their intention to reform recent laws relating to the display of number plates in the uk to allow flags from wales ( dragon) , scotland ( saltire ) and england ( St georges cross ) to be displayed on the LHS in addition to the Euro symbol. However this has never happened and so many motorists are running the risk of a fine as technically they are breaking the law.Last week, in response to questions from MPs, Transport Minister Jim Fitzpatrick said: ‘The regulations have not yet been amended and the matter is currently under review.’
