heard about oil 2.0?

Have you heard about Oil 2.0 yet?  This is a renewable petroleum resource that’s just getting off the ground.  That’s right – you heard me correctly – renewable petroleum.  Just like trees are a renewable resource, now oil can be too.  Scientists have managed to rewrite the DNA of bacteria to convert the fatty acids they typically produce as byproducts and turn those byproducts into oil suitable for use as gasoline or diesel fuel.  The technology is till in its infancy but in three years or so there may be commercial plants producing renewable oil.   I know it’s not as green as some other technologies I’ve talked about in the past, but it’s still a pretty impressive innovation.
