Do you like to have large dogs for pets?  If you do, it is highly recommended that you should choose an English Mastiff dogs and here some bits of information about these gentle giants.  These Mastiff dogs were originally brought to the British Isles by the Romans who are the original masters.  For centuries, the Romans have used the Mastiff as fierce war dogs and pugnacious fighters. And when they were brought to England, they were considered as watch dogs and why not? A full grown English Mastiff can grown as heavy as 200 lbs. and its mouth can be as wide a your main door to your house.  They were used as fighting dogs in the pits and for bull baiting, a once very popular blood sport. But in 1835, these activities were banned in England and the English bred these dogs as house pets, devoted, gentle and obedient. During WW2, they were taken to America and this was the time when they start multiplying. Now, many people obsessed with large dogs choose English Mastiff because it’s now considered as a gentle giant.
