The Importance of Running shoes
For runners the right running shoes in training are so vital. The show must be supportive around the heel to stop the foot rolling inwards (pronating) at the ankle joint and also be soft enough to absorb shock when we hit the ground. This is a compromise between these two functions and different runners will need different levels of stability vs shock absorption. The shoes should be flexible in the forefoot where the foot bends. This is another trade off between the shoe being stable and different runners will needs different combinations of flexibility vs stability. An increased risk for injury is the consequences of getting it wrong.
